In the College of Integrative Sciences and the Arts, the faculty members in Counseling and Counseling Psychology focus on the education of counselors and psychologists to become culturally competent to work with a diverse clientele in a variety of mental health settings.

We highlight the use of research to inform our knowledge base and our training to prevent or treat psychological problems and to promote the health of individuals, families, groups, and organizations in a multicultural and diverse society.

ASU's Decision Theater actively engages researchers and civic leaders to model and visualize solutions to complex problems. The theater provides the latest expertise in collaborative, computing and display technologies for data visualization, modeling and simulation.

The network addresses cross-disciplinary local, national and international issues by drawing on Arizona State University’s diverse academic and research capabilities.

Ranked No. 36 in the nation (U.S. News & World Report), the Department of Economics in ASU's W. P. Carey School of Business teaches and conducts research ranging from public finance to environmental economics and microeconomic theory.

Research conducted within the Healthy Lifestyles Recharge Center in the College of Health Solutions determines how daily lifestyle habits and actions impact both short- and long-term health, chronic disease risk and the quality of life.

The center's laboratory is located in the state-of-the-art Arizona Biomedical Collaborative Building in downtown Phoenix. Studies focus on exercise and wellness, nutrition and diet, behaviors associated with lifestyle choices and the social assessment of chronic disease prevention. 

The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication explores the complex role of human communication in everyday life and provides the tools to understand, analyze and respond to communication problems and opportunities, including interpersonal relationships, workplace teams, and community, civic and cultural groups.

Our species, Homo sapiens, is an oddity among the life forms on this planet. Our societies are much larger and more complex than that of any other species, and our tools and artifacts are vastly more sophisticated than those made by any other creature. 

The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) provides support for research and training in the social sciences through faculty seed grants, high profile speakers, training workshops, a graduate student poster contest, and graduate and undergraduate certificates in social science research methods.

The institute is directed by H. Russell Bernard,  who is a professor in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.

The Kyl Center for Water Policy at Morrison Institute for Public Policy seeks to generate policy proposals for public evaluation and subsequent consideration for possible action or adoption. An Arizona State University resource, the Kyl Center promotes research, analysis, collaboration and open dialogue to identify opportunities for consensus to ensure sound water stewardship for Arizona and the Western region for generations to come.
